Nigerian artists are making a powerful statement on the global stage with multiple nominations at the 2025 BET Awards, capturing attention across key categories.


Ayra Starr leads the African nominees with three major nods: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act. The 21-year-old continues to rise in global recognition with chart-topping hits and critically acclaimed performances.


Burna Boy and Rema have also earned nominations in the Best International Act category. Burna Boy, a titan of Afrobeats, is no stranger to the spotlight, having won the award four times in the past.


Emerging street-hop sensation Shallipopi secured a nomination for Best New International Act, reflecting the global impact of Nigeria’s new generation of music talent.


Grammy-winning singer Tems was recognized in the BET Her category for her powerful songs “Burning” and “Hold On” from her debut album Born In The Wild.


The 2025 BET Awards will take place on June 9 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on BET.


Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations overall with 10 nods, followed closely by Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla.
