Popular comedian Adebowale Adedayo, known as Mr. Macaroni, has strongly criticized the Nigerian Police following the tragic shooting of a secondary school student in Oyo State. The boy was shot while on his way to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on Tuesday morning.
The student was in a black Honda Accord with his twin brother, being driven by their father when police officers attempted to stop the vehicle around 7:30 a.m. on Gbagi Market Road for driving against traffic. During the incident, an officer reportedly fired a shot intended to hit the car’s tire but instead struck the student.
The injured boy was rushed to Welfare Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. This incident sparked outrage among local traders and residents, who protested by carrying the boy’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat, demanding justice and accountability from the authorities.
Reacting on his X account, Mr. Macaroni condemned the police action, describing it as “wicked, evil, callous, irresponsible and shamelessly corrupt,” and labeled the officers involved as “murderers.”
