Eezee Tee, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has broken his silence following the controversial arrest of social media personality and activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).
VeryDarkMan was recently arrested by security operatives in Abuja, triggering a wave of online debates and speculations. Among the swirling rumors is an allegation suggesting that Mercy Chinwo may have had a hand in his arrest. This comes on the heels of an ongoing legal battle between the gospel singer and her former record label boss, Eezee Tee.
VDM had previously made comments regarding the rift between Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee, which allegedly led to a defamation lawsuit filed against him by the singer. Amid these developments, many on social media began speculating about her involvement in his detention.
Addressing the situation on Instagram, Eezee Tee distanced himself from the controversy and offered words of support for VeryDarkMan. While not directly commenting on the arrest’s cause, he acknowledged the activist’s impact and advocacy for marginalized communities.
“No one can dispute his contributions by giving a voice to the voiceless and amplifying the concerns of the have-nots,” Eezee Tee wrote. “At this trying time, I pray for your safety and release.”
His statement has been interpreted by many as a show of empathy rather than endorsement, as the case surrounding VDM continues to draw public attention. Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest and stated that VDM could be released upon meeting his bail conditions.
The story continues to evolve as the public awaits official updates regarding the circumstances of the arrest and the pending defamation suit filed by Mercy Chinwo.
