Nigerian actress Lizzy Gold recently called out her father over what she described as an "entitlement mentality" after a monetary gift she sent during the Easter holiday went unappreciated. Lizzy, known for her role in Nigerian entertainment, expressed her disappointment in a now-deleted Instagram video, recounting the upsetting encounter.

According to Lizzy, she had developed a routine of surprising her father with a monetary gift late at night so that he would wake up to the credit alert the next morning. This gesture, which she cherished, typically prompted heartfelt prayers from her father, reinforcing the emotional connection she felt toward her acts of giving. “Normally, I always send money to my father. I do send money at night so that he will see the amount I have sent when he wakes up in the morning, because I love surprises,” she said.

However, during Easter, after initially ignoring his request for money with a casual message, “Baby how far na? Do Easter for you papa na,” Lizzy decided to send a much larger amount than usual. She claimed the sum was ten times more than what she typically sent, hoping for the usual prayers and gratitude in return. To her dismay, her father’s response was a brief “Thanks,” with no prayers or acknowledgment of the significant gesture.

Hurt by this, Lizzy confronted her father, but he only responded with, “I prayed for you in my heart,” which left her feeling even more disappointed. “Daddy, I don’t pluck money from the trees. I work tirelessly for money. I enjoy the prayers. It gingers me to want to do more,” she explained.

Lizzy’s post sparked a conversation online about the sense of entitlement some family members can have when it comes to financial support. While some sympathized with Lizzy, others cautioned against airing personal grievances publicly.

Her experience has become a talking point, particularly for those who feel that their family members take their success and generosity for granted.

“Why do some family members feel entitled to your money and success?” Lizzy questioned in the now-viral post.
