Afrobeats artist Lil Kesh has opened up about his mental health, disclosing that he has battled anxiety and symptoms resembling Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) since childhood.
Speaking in a recent interview, the singer revealed that while he hasn’t been officially diagnosed, his personal experiences strongly suggest he lives with ADHD.
“I don’t like to identify as ADHD, but I have ADHD. I diagnosed myself, but trust me, I know,” he said.
Lil Kesh explained that his mental health challenges have impacted both his personal life and music career. According to him, the pressure of being in the public eye, coupled with internal battles, often triggers his anxiety—especially in times of uncertainty.
“Everybody has a particular level of ADHD to them. But it’s bad when it is a disorder. I’ve had my fair share of that disorder right from when I was a kid,” he said.
He stressed that the lack of clarity tends to intensify his anxiety. “I feel like not knowing, lack of clarity… that’s one thing that can give me anxiety. Once I know what it is that I’m dealing with or what type of emotion I’m actually feeling or what my problem really is, that is half solved,” he added.
Lil Kesh’s candid revelations contribute to the broader discourse on mental health in the Nigerian entertainment scene, where more public figures are beginning to speak up about their struggles.
