Legendary American musician Billy Joel has announced a health setback that has forced him to cancel all upcoming tour dates.

On Friday, his management shared the news via his official Instagram page, revealing that Joel has been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a neurological condition caused by an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain.

This condition can cause symptoms such as difficulty with balance, hearing, and vision all of which Joel has reportedly been experiencing.

At 76 years old, the singer-songwriter is now undergoing targeted physical therapy as recommended by his doctors. Due to the severity of his symptoms, Joel has been advised to pause all performances to focus on his recovery.

This decision has led to the cancellation of his scheduled concerts across Europe and America, which were initially planned from late April through early July.

Fans who had purchased tickets for any of these shows are assured that refunds will be automatically processed to the original payment methods. The management’s statement expressed hope for Joel’s improvement during this break and thanked fans for their understanding and support.

Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus is a rare but serious condition that, if treated promptly, can often improve with therapy and sometimes surgical intervention.

While this diagnosis is a significant challenge for the iconic performer, Billy Joel’s team is optimistic about his path to recovery.

This pause in his career comes at a difficult time, but Joel’s health and well-being remain the top priority. Supporters worldwide are wishing him strength as he takes the necessary steps to regain his health and eventually return to the stage.
