Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has issued a heartfelt plea to fans and content creators, urging them to respect her privacy in public spaces.
Her comments followed a recent incident where a fan filmed her without permission while she was shopping.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, May 29, Jemima recounted how unsettling it felt to be unknowingly recorded while performing a mundane personal task.
She described the moment as invasive, stressing that fame should not come at the cost of one’s dignity and personal boundaries.
“I understand that content creation is everywhere now, but I am kindly asking don’t pull out your phone and record me the second you spot me.
It’s not okay,” she said. She humorously painted a scenario of picking out feminine products and suddenly turning to see a camera pointed at her face. “It’s embarrassing and invasive,” she added.
The actress, known for her grace on screen and vibrant social media presence, emphasized that while she appreciates her fans and their support, she draws a clear line when it comes to unsolicited recordings.
Jemima explained that saying hello or taking a picture with permission is welcome, but the growing habit of secretly or suddenly filming celebrities in everyday moments is disturbing and disrespectful.
This is not the first time Jemima has addressed boundaries with fans. In the past, she has politely corrected rumors and spoken out about personal space and public assumptions.
As social media continues to blur the line between public and private life, Jemima’s call serves as a reminder that celebrities, like everyone else, are entitled to respect and privacy especially in unguarded moments.
Her message has resonated with many online who believe mutual respect should be at the heart of fan-celebrity interactions.
