Popular Nigerian skit maker Zicsaloma has addressed public speculation surrounding his frequent portrayal of female characters in his online comedy skits.
According to him, these roles are purely for entertainment and not a reflection of his personal identity or lifestyle.
Zicsaloma, who has gained fame for his humorous content and knack for imitating female mannerisms, emphasized that his use of women’s clothing and behavior is strictly part of his comic delivery.
He noted that many comedians take on different characters to drive their message or generate laughter, and his female impersonations fall in that creative category.
Speaking in a recent interview, he stated: “I am not a crossdresser. I only dress like women for content creation.
I don’t even apply makeup, and I can still make people laugh without dressing up.” He stressed that his performances should not be mistaken for an endorsement or promotion of crossdressing.
His comments come amid ongoing conversations around gender roles and identity in Nigeria, especially as more male comedians and entertainers dress in women’s attire for their content.
However, Zicsaloma made it clear that while others may have their own reasons or identities, his intentions are solely artistic.
He also responded to suggestions that he may have influenced some public figures now known for crossdressing.
“There are people who act like Hausa men or Igbo women in skits. It’s comedy. I won’t take the blame for others’ choices,” he said.
With this clarification, Zicsaloma hopes to separate his art from assumptions about his lifestyle, reminding fans that comedy often requires stepping into diverse roles purely for the sake of laughter.
