Veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has made it clear that winning the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is not a priority for him, despite being nominated at the 11th edition of the prestigious event.
Chatta was in the running for the Best Lead Actor category for his performance in House of GAA, but the award ultimately went to fellow actor Femi Adebayo for his role in Seven Doors.
During a recent appearance on the podcast Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by Isbae U, Chatta was asked about the significance of the AMVCA and whether not winning the award made him feel underappreciated in the industry.
Responding candidly, Chatta said: “I’m not interested.”
The 11th AMVCA ceremony took place on Saturday night in Lagos, celebrating excellence in African film and television. Despite not clinching the award, Chatta’s response has drawn attention for its honesty and his apparent disinterest in industry recognition.
