The family of late Nollywood actress and social media influencer, Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, has officially shared details of her upcoming burial following her sudden death last week.
In a post published on her verified Instagram account on Tuesday, the family revealed that final rites for Monalisa will begin on Thursday, May 22, 2025. According to the announcement, a private burial ceremony will take place at noon that day.
Monalisa tragically passed away on Tuesday, May 13, in Lagos. Reports indicate that the cause of death was linked to complications from low blood sugar and internal bleeding.
Her death was first made public by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, who shared the news via Instagram. In his post, he wrote: “Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding.”
Though full details surrounding her health condition remain unclear, the shocking news of her passing has left fans and followers mourning deeply. Monalisa had previously been open about her struggles with depression and mental health, often using her platform to speak out on emotional wellness and body positivity.
