Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has responded to veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, following criticism of his flamboyant lifestyle.
Charly Boy had taken a swipe at Melaye over a trending video where the ex-lawmaker boldly proclaimed, “There’s no one else like me. I’m limited edition.” Reacting to the clip, Charly Boy hinted that despite Melaye’s display of wealth, he might be battling internal issues.
“This shows that even in the midst of luxury/obscene affluence, it is possible to be clinically depressed. Not all forms of mental illness are discernible,” Charly Boy wrote on social media.
Melaye didn’t take the comment lightly and hit back in a video shared on his Facebook page on Thursday. He accused Charly Boy of chasing clout and mocked his personal circumstances.
“I heard he has a leaking roof but he has no money to fix it. He places a whole big bike in front of his house like a statue and he doesn’t see that as a show-off,” Melaye said.
He added, “He wanted to use my name to gain popularity because his destiny has been thrown inside freezer.”
Melaye, known for his lavish car collection and flashy public appearances, remains a regular figure in public discourse long after his time in the 8th National Assembly.
