Afrobeats superstar Davido recently shared an adorable detail about his daughter Hailey Adeleke that has fans smiling. During a candid interview, the music star couldn’t hide his pride as he spoke about Hailey’s impressive ability to speak French fluently.
While Davido admitted he only knows “a little bit” of the language himself, he explained that Hailey’s mother hails from both Togo and Senegal two French-speaking West African countries which is why French comes naturally to their daughter. “My daughter her mom is from Togo and Senegal so my daughter speaks French fluently,” he said, beaming. “I said, I’ll pull,” he joked, clearly impressed by his daughter’s linguistic skills.
The interviewer teased the singer, urging him to brush up on his French so he can keep up with Hailey. Davido laughed and agreed, saying, “Yeah, I got to learn that.”
The conversation then shifted toward Francophone Africa’s vibrant music scene. Davido expressed familiarity and enthusiasm, name-dropping Congolese music icon Fally Ipupa as one of the standout artists from the French-speaking side of the continent. “The singers? Of course like Fally and them!” he said enthusiastically.
Fans have often praised Davido not just for his musical talent, but also for his dedication as a father. His openness about his children and their growth continues to endear him to the public. Hailey, born in 2017, is Davido’s second daughter, and she has made several public appearances with him, both online and at events.
As his music continues to cross borders, it’s clear that Davido’s family is just as globally connected as his fan base with Hailey’s fluency in French serving as yet another reminder of the singer’s rich multicultural legacy.
