Nigerian singer Omah Lay is marking his 28th birthday with heartfelt reflections on his journey from the streets of Port Harcourt to global recognition.

In an emotional message shared with fans, the artist opened up about the challenges he faced growing up. “I grew up in Port Harcourt. Life wasn’t easy. Sometimes, we didn’t even have electricity for days,” he recalled. “I used to make beats on a small laptop that crashed all the time.”

Omah Lay shared how he began his music career with no industry connections or financial backing. “I had no connections, no fame — nobody knew me. I just kept creating music and posting it online. No big support, no money — just pure hope.”

Things took a turn when he released Bad Influence, the song that catapulted him into the spotlight. “When I dropped Bad Influence, I was shocked at how deeply people connected with it. That one song changed my entire life. Labels started calling, shows came in, and the money followed,” he said.

Now an international star, Omah Lay says he still holds onto the memories of his early days. “Now, I travel the world and millions sing along to my songs. But I still remember that boy in Port Harcourt who just wanted his voice to be heard.”

Marking his special day, he expressed deep gratitude: “Today is my birthday… and I never knew I’d come this far. I’m grateful.”
