Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has issued a strong warning to fellow celebrities and affluent entrepreneurs concerning the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a message to mark the beginning of the new month, the nightlife promoter advised high-profile individuals to refrain from the common practice of spraying money at social events. According to him, the EFCC has intensified its clampdown on such actions, particularly when carried out by prominent figures.
“If you are famous, if you are a well-known businessman with an address, please don’t spray money. EFCC are not joking about this,” he warned.
Cubana Chief Priest, a close associate of music star Davido, revealed that he narrowly avoided jail time last year due to spraying naira at an event. Reflecting on that experience, he stated that he would no longer be involved in the act, regardless of the currency.
“I nearly got in jail last year. Me I no go ever spray again whether dollar, euro, naira or pounds,” he said.
He urged anyone who has received a formal invitation from the anti-graft agency to respond promptly and cooperate fully. The nightlife mogul also hinted at developing a new, creative way of making a statement at events without drawing EFCC attention.
“I’m seriously working on another type of doings wey we go dey use shut down events. If you spray money, EFCC must come for you. Happy New Month, fam; avoid wahala,” he added.
His caution comes amid growing scrutiny by the EFCC on financial misconduct involving public displays of cash.
