Nigerian singer Ruger has revealed that his music journey started in the church choir.
He shared this during a recent episode of the Africa Now series on Apple Music, which was posted on X on Monday.
Ruger credited his time in the choir for helping him develop his vocal abilities.
The Bounce singer admitted that while his songs don’t always highlight his vocal skills, those who have watched him perform live have witnessed his vocal range.
“Only those who have attended my live shows truly get to experience my vocals. I don’t usually emphasise them in my recorded songs,” he said.
Ruger also expressed his love for live performances, saying they allow him to connect with his music in a unique way.
“My best moments as Ruger are on stage because I can experiment with my songs however I like. I started in the choir, so I know how to sing, especially when a song resonates with me,” he added.
