As Nigeria prepares to honor its police officers on National Police Day, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has raised concerns over a planned nationwide protest organized by the Take It Back Movement. Set to take place on Monday, April 7, 2025, the same day the country is set to celebrate the dedication and resilience of its law enforcement officers, the timing of the protest has been met with strong opposition from the NPF.
While reaffirming its support for citizens' right to peaceful assembly, the NPF warns that the protest's chosen date is perceived as a deliberate attempt to undermine the institution's recognition and contributions to national security. With dignitaries from Nigeria and abroad expected to attend the event, the police urge organizers to engage in dialogue with the government rather than proceed with the demonstration.
The statement, issued by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, calls for reconsideration of the protest’s timing and emphasizes the importance of upholding national unity and respect for law enforcement efforts.
