Reality TV star and entertainer, Liquorose, has opened up about a frustrating challenge she's faced in her Nollywood journey, being constantly typecast as a dancer.
Best known for her fiery performances on Big Brother Naija and her impressive dance background, Liquorose revealed in a recent interview that she actually entered the entertainment industry with acting as her primary passion. However, her transition into Nollywood hasn’t been as smooth as fans might expect.
“I came into the industry as an actress,” she shared. “But after Big Brother, people only saw me as a dancer. It’s been tough getting roles that show I can do more than just perform choreography.”
Liquorose, who has built a strong brand on talent, discipline, and versatility, said she’s had to push harder than most to be considered for dramatic or emotionally intense roles. Despite her experience in front of the camera and natural screen presence, she finds herself boxed into dance-centric characters time and time again.
This issue of typecasting in Nollywood isn’t new, especially for multi-talented entertainers. It echoes similar sentiments shared by other stars like Cynthia Okereke's legacy and even newcomers trying to break out of the molds cast by early roles.
In Liquorose’s case, her rise to fame through dance and Big Brother Naija seems to have overshadowed her original goals as an actress. But fans are not having it.
“She’s more than just a dancer. Give her a script and let her shine,” one fan tweeted.
Supporters are now rallying behind her, urging producers and directors to see beyond the choreography and cast her in roles that challenge and expand her range.
If you’re following Liquorose’s journey or rooting for a more inclusive Nollywood, this is a conversation worth keeping on the radar.
