Hellen Ati, who claims Cubana Chief Priest fathered her child, has been advised to take legal steps rather than seeking public attention.
Legal practitioner Stan Alieke gave this advice following her persistent call for a DNA test.
Her plea to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to intervene in the dispute prompted Alieke’s response.
On Sunday, Hellen shared on Instagram the difficulties of raising her child alone in Kenya, mentioning financial struggles and a lack of support from the alleged father.
She urged Governor Uzodinma and his wife, Chioma, to use their influence to ensure Cubana Chief Priest takes responsibility and undergoes a DNA test.
Reacting on Monday via Instagram, Alieke suggested that if Hellen is confident about her claim, she should approach the court instead of social media.
He explained that if the court establishes Cubana Chief Priest as the father, he would be legally obligated to support the child. However, if a DNA test proves otherwise, he could sue for defamation.
Alieke stated, “of the social media shenanigans; if Helen is sure that CP is the father of her child, let her approach the court & the court will mandate CP to either take custody of the child or pay for the upkeep of the child & the mother. Conversely, if after DNA which Helen has been calling for is done & it shows that CP is not the father of her child, CP can institute an action in court for defamation against her. This is how it goes in court, despite your emotions & sentiments.”
