Nollywood actor Ijoba Lande has issued a heartfelt apology to his senior colleague, Funke Akindele, after making controversial comments about their past work relationship.
Lande had previously shared his experience on a movie production at Amen Estate, where he claimed to have worked for a month and was paid only N90,000. He used the opportunity to advise aspiring actors not to idolise top actors, stating that he had learned from his experience and would now demand payment for any job he is called to do.
However, in a recent video circulating online, Ijoba Lande clarified his earlier statement and apologised to Funke Akindele. He explained that the video was taken out of context, revealing that he was actually paid N190,000, not N90,000, as he had originally stated. Lande further claimed that after he complained to Funke about the initial payment, she began paying him N55,000 per day until he left the location.
Ijoba Lande, expressing concern about potential legal repercussions, stated, “Please, everyone should help me beg Aunty Funke. I don’t want to go to prison. I didn’t mean to tarnish your image. The video was a cut and join. I made a mistake by saying 90k, I meant to say 190k. I was only trying to advise upcoming actors. We had an agreement before I was paid. After I complained about the 190k to her, she started paying me 55k per day till I left the location. If she sues me now, where will I get the money. Please forgive me.”
The actor’s apology has garnered attention online, with many reacting to his attempt to mend the relationship with Funke Akindele.
