Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has responded unapologetically to the viral clip where he mistakenly said “kundusi” instead of “kudos,” turning the mockery into a moment of pride about his family’s achievements.
The NURTW boss, while addressing delegates in a recent meeting, acknowledged that he never had the opportunity to acquire formal education, but said that didn’t stop him from ensuring his children got the best learning money could buy.
“I didn’t go to school. I started life hustling as a conductor,” he stated. “But today, my children are graduates living overseas, and they speak better English than all these people laughing online.”
The Lagos transport leader became the subject of online jokes after the “kundusi” slip during a speech in Abuja. But rather than shy away, he embraced the blunder, claiming grammar isn’t a true measure of success or leadership.
“Must we all speak grammar? Grammar no go fix this country,” he added in Yoruba, drawing cheers from those present.
He went on to mention how far he had come rising through the ranks from conductor to national president of NURTW and stressed that his journey is a lesson in resilience and determination.
Taking a humorous jab at his critics, he said, “They mock me for ‘kundusi,’ but my child’s name is Qudus. What have they done with all their big English?”
MC Oluomo also pointed to his son’s social media defense in the past, where he praised his father’s commitment to family, care, and success despite societal labels.
In his words, the backlash only proves that no matter your background, the most important thing is impact and legacy.
