Popular Nollywood actress, Biodun Okeowo, widely known as Omoborty, recently discussed her shifting views on success, her emotional connection to some of her movie roles, and her approach to maintaining a glowing appearance.
In a conversation with Saturday Beats, Okeowo explained that her idea of success has matured over time.
“Today, success means the impact I have on others, not just personal achievements in life or in the movie industry,” she said. “I’m thankful for how far I’ve come, but I still have bigger goals ahead. I believe I’m living in success, but I’m also still on the journey of becoming.”
Looking back at her career, Okeowo pointed to two self-produced films—Omoborty and Ore—as projects that are especially close to her heart.
She shared that although she is still waiting for her most demanding role yet, Ore deeply resonates with her because much of the story reflects her own life experiences.
“Ore was emotionally challenging because about half of the storyline is based on my personal journey,” she revealed. “I gave it my all, and seeing audiences respond so strongly reminded me why acting has always been my passion.”
On the subject of Nollywood’s future, Okeowo expressed her desire for greater female representation, both in front of and behind the camera.
“I want to see more stories led by women and more women taking roles as directors, producers, and cinematographers,” she said. “Nollywood has grown, but we still need better systems that value true talent over connections, giving female actors more chances to rise.”
When asked about the secret behind her youthful look and radiant skin, the actress credited it to a mix of genetics and conscious lifestyle choices.
“First, it’s by God’s grace—and good genes too. My dad is 85 but looks incredibly young,” she said. “I’m also very intentional about skincare. I stay hydrated, eat a lot of fruits, laugh often, and protect my peace. Victoria’s Beauty isn’t just my business; it’s my way of life. When you have inner peace, it naturally reflects on your skin.”
