Popular comedian and gospel entertainer, Woli Arole, has expressed his deep frustration with the Nigerian gospel music industry, calling out the hypocrisy and worldliness that, according to him, have taken root in the ministry.
In a strongly worded social media post, Arole did not hold back as he lamented the growing level of favoritism and cabalism in the gospel music scene. He criticized how invitations to minister are now based more on personal connections rather than divine direction, questioning whether the industry still prioritizes spiritual calling over human influence.
According to Arole, the lines between entertainers and true ministers of the gospel have become increasingly blurred, making it difficult to differentiate between those genuinely called to lead worship and those merely performing for fame and recognition. He warned that gospel music, which is meant to inspire and uplift souls, is gradually losing its essence as commercial interests and personal ambition take center stage.
Furthermore, he raised concerns about the lack of sincerity among some gospel artists, stating that many are more focused on trends and popularity than spreading the true message of Christ. He noted that gospel music should be a means of ministration and transformation rather than a performance-driven industry centered on competition and self-promotion.
Arole’s outburst has sparked discussions among fans and stakeholders in the gospel music community, with some agreeing that commercialism has diluted the purity of gospel ministration, while others argue that music as an art form will always evolve.
Woli arole took to Instagram to show off his disapproval:
