Norbert and Gloria Young Open Up About Their 7-Year Struggle with Childlessness

 Veteran Nollywood actors Norbert and Gloria Young recently opened up about their seven-year struggle with childlessness, sharing how the experience shaped their marriage and personal lives.

 In a heartfelt interview on Love Notes with Tope, which gained traction online, the couple reflected on the emotional toll it took especially on Gloria, who felt immense pressure from societal expectations.

Gloria admitted that while Norbert remained calm and reassuring throughout the years, she bore the brunt of silent scrutiny from family members and outsiders. 

She recounted moments at family gatherings where relatives would give pointed stares at her stomach, a subtle but painful reminder of her childlessness. While no one in Norbert’s family pressured him about the issue, Gloria found herself facing unspoken yet intense judgment from her own relatives.

Norbert, however, maintained that he never saw it as a challenge. He recalled telling his wife to remain patient, citing his sister’s experience  she had a child after 16 years of marriage, and her husband never wavered in his support. He reassured Gloria, telling her not to worry, as he believed in divine timing.

Despite Norbert’s unwavering confidence, Gloria admitted to feeling isolated in her struggle. She explained that as a woman, societal expectations weighed heavily on her. People around her, without directly saying anything, often made her feel inadequate. Though Norbert never pressured her, she carried the burden of expectations alone.

Their story sheds light on the silent struggles many couples face, particularly in a society where childbearing is often seen as a measure of marital success. Through their journey, they emphasized the importance of patience, understanding, and unwavering support in a marriage, proving that love and commitment go beyond societal pressures.
