Muyiwa Awoniyi, the manager of Grammy-winning singer Tems, has stirred controversy with his blunt statement warning Nigerian youths not to expect much from the government.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Awoniyi wrote: “Nigeria has no plans for you.”
His remark quickly went viral, sparking a heated debate. While some agreed, stating that the government continuously fails its citizens, others argued that nation-building is a shared responsibility and that citizens must also contribute.

The discussion comes just weeks after Rema expressed concerns over Nigerians losing faith in their country. Unlike Awoniyi, the Afrobeats star urged youths to stay hopeful and actively contribute to Nigeria’s growth.
With frustrations running high, Awoniyi’s statement raises an important question—should Nigerian youths fight for change, or simply fend for themselves?
