British monarch King Charles III has surprised the world with his admiration for Afrobeats superstar Davido, revealing that the singer’s music made him fall in love with Pidgin English.
Speaking on his new Apple Music show, The King’s Music Room, which premiered on Monday, Charles III expressed his desire to speak Pidgin on his next visit to Nigeria.
“Davido has made me love Pidgin language. I would like to speak it the next time I visit Nigeria. Thanks to Afrobeats, it’s becoming more popular around the world,” the King stated.
During the show, the monarch also shared his diverse taste in music, naming Davido’s hit song ‘Kante’ featuring Fave as one of his personal favorites.
Reacting to the unexpected praise, Davido reposted the video on Instagram, giving a special shout-out to the royal family.
With Afrobeats continuing to dominate the global stage, this latest recognition from British royalty further cements Nigeria’s musical influence worldwide.
