Kel-P Fires Back at Solidstar Over Claims of ‘Grooming’ Him and Giving His Vibes to Burna Boy

Nigerian producer Kel-P has broken his silence after singer Solidstar accused him of stealing his musical style and using it to produce for Burna Boy.

Earlier this year, Solidstar claimed he mentored Kel-P, helped shape his sound, and worked on multiple songs with him, only to later hear his own “vibes” on Burna Boy’s album.

“I groomed Kel-P up, we made Eleganza and some unreleased songs. I was pained when I heard my sound all over Burna’s album, but I let it slide because Burna once supported me,” Solidstar wrote on X.

Addressing the allegations on Urban96 podcast, Kel-P dismissed the claims, insisting that the sound belonged to him and that artists often feel entitled when a producer works with someone else.

“I created the sound. Many artists think I’m giving their vibes to others, but I give them my sound. Solidstar was one of the first artists I worked with, but I didn’t make a dime from him. I was just making music because he’s talented. When I got the opportunity to work with Burna Boy, I focused on that.”

Kel-P also exposed Solidstar’s inconsistent behavior, revealing that he would follow and unfollow him repeatedly, trying to reconnect but later going on a public rant when ignored.

With Solidstar insisting he was robbed and Kel-P standing firm on his achievements, fans are now left debating—was this mentorship or just another industry fallout?
