The legal battle between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, her former manager Eezee Tee, and VeryDarkMan has taken a dramatic turn. A Federal High Court has halted the arrest of VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, over allegations of criminal defamation filed by Chinwo.
The controversy began when Chinwo accused VeryDarkMan of making defamatory statements on social media, alleging that she was involved in a contractual dispute and the diversion of $345,000 linked to her former record label boss, Eezee Tee. Chinwo's legal team submitted documentary evidence, including emails and payment receipts, to counter the allegations.
On March 13, 2025, the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a bench warrant for VeryDarkMan's arrest after he reportedly failed to appear in court. However, VeryDarkMan revealed on Instagram that a Federal High Court order now overrides the magistrate's court decision, effectively stopping the execution of the arrest warrant.
The case has sparked widespread interest, with many following the developments closely. The Federal High Court's decision to halt VeryDarkMan's arrest has added a new layer of complexity to the case, and it remains to be seen how it will ultimately be resolved.
