The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Shikfu Parradang, in a hotel in Abuja.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, disclosed that Parradang had checked into Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, on March 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM. He arrived in a black Mercedes Benz and paid a sum of ₦22,000 for a one-night stay. Shortly after checking in, he instructed a hotel room attendant to escort a female guest to his room.
The lady reportedly left the hotel premises around 4:00 PM that same day. However, Parradang was not seen leaving his room afterward. Concerned about his whereabouts, a close friend, who is a military officer, traced him to the hotel at around 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025.
Upon arrival, the officer, along with the hotel receptionist, proceeded to his room, where they found him lifeless, seated in a chair. Authorities were immediately alerted, and officers from the Durumi Police Station swiftly responded. The police secured the scene, took photographs, and gathered relevant evidence to aid in their investigation.
Parrandang’s body was later transferred to the National Hospital for further examination. Meanwhile, the police have assured the public that they are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death. The hotel staff are said to be fully cooperating with law enforcement.
Parrandang, who served as the Comptroller General of Immigration from 2013 to 2015, was known for his efforts to reform Nigeria’s border security. His sudden passing has sparked concerns, with authorities promising to provide updates as more details emerge.
