Nigerian music sensation Davido has opened up about the meaning behind the title of his forthcoming album, 5ive.
During a Twitch livestream with music creator Cruel Santino, which was later shared on X on Wednesday, the singer explained that the album’s name simply represents his fifth studio project.
“It’s my fifth album, so I just called it 5ive. No deep meaning like that, but if you look into the number 5, you can find deeper meanings,” he stated.
5ive follows Davido’s previous albums, A Good Time, A Better Time, and the record-breaking Timeless. While the singer clarified that the project doesn’t carry a profound message, he noted that those familiar with the symbolism of the number five might draw deeper interpretations.
Ahead of the album’s official release, Davido dropped three singles: Awuke featuring YG Marley, Funds with Chike and Odumodublvck, and Be There Still, which debuted on March 14. The latest track blends Amapiano sounds with English and pidgin lyrics.
The singer also described 5ive, which is set to be released on April 18, as a deeply personal and heartfelt project.
