Nigerian social media commentator, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, recently posted a video where he explained why gospel singer Mercy Chinwo should consider settling her legal dispute with her former label boss and manager, Eezee Tee of Eezee Concepts, outside of court.
Chinwo and Eezee Tee have been involved in a legal battle over a contract and financial dealings during her time with his label.
In a post shared on his Instagram on Friday, VDM revealed that he had a recent phone conversation with Mercy Chinwo’s lawyer, during which he advised him to pursue an out-of-court settlement with Eezee Tee.
He shared, “I was on the phone with Mercy’s lawyer, I advised him to settle with Eezee Tee out of court, I gave him reasons and examples.”
To further support his recommendation, VDM referenced various Nigerian musicians whose careers were negatively affected by disputes with their label bosses.
He highlighted several notable examples, including Olamide’s conflicts with Lyta, Lil Kesh, and Asake; YCee’s fallout with Tiny Entertainment; Banky W and Wizkid; Don Jazzy and Reekado Banks; and Mr. May D’s issues with Square Records.
VDM emphasized that many of these artists, despite their initial popularity, faded from the spotlight following their label disputes.
“When artistes have issues with label boss, they tend to have problems,” he remarked.
