Nigerian travel content creator Alma Asinobi has set a historic milestone by becoming the first person to visit all seven continents using a Nigerian passport.
Her journey, which lasted 71 hours, 26 minutes, and 25 seconds, was far from smooth, as she faced obstacles such as visa difficulties, flight delays, and travel restrictions tied to her nationality.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Asinobi expressed her excitement, stating, “Our Nigerian flag is officially the first and fastest flag to visit all 7 continents! I guess my work here is done. I cannot wait to be homeeeee.”
Beyond her record-setting feat, her experience highlights the struggles Nigerians often encounter when travelling internationally.
Reflecting on her exhausting journey, she shared, “Gosh… Continent 8 (Dreamland) was kind to me. No visas needed, no flight needed, just a bed. To be honest, any bed would have been fine. I just needed my swollen feet to not move for a few hours and all I can say is… mission accomplished.”
“As I was sleeping, I heard ‘this is the final boarding call…’ and I jumped out of bed startled, only to realise it was only a dream. That’s not normal,” she added.
Although Asinobi did not surpass Johnny Cruz Buckingham’s Guinness World Record of 64 hours, her achievement remains impressive.
She is now looking forward to a homecoming event on March 30, where she aims to set another record by gathering Nigerians to sign the flag she carried throughout her journey.
