Nigeria’s very own Tems has once again made history at the 67th Grammy Awards, defeating Afrobeats giants Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Yemi Alade, and Asake to win Best African Music Performance for her hit song "Love Me Jeje"!
Tems' stunning win cements her status as one of Africa’s biggest stars, following in the footsteps of Tyla, who won the maiden award last year.
A Win for the Queens!
With this victory, female artists have dominated the newly introduced Best African Music Performance category for two years in a row, proving that the ladies are taking over the global stage! 🌍💥
Tems' Journey to Victory
"Love Me Jeje", a reimagination of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic, became an instant fan favorite upon release last April, receiving global recognition and proving once again why Tems is a force to be reckoned with.
Her win came at the expense of some of Africa’s biggest stars, as she edged out:
🎵 "Tomorrow" – Yemi Alade
🎵 "MMS" – Asake & Wizkid
🎵 "Sensational" – Chris Brown ft. Davido & Lojay
🎵 "Higher" – Burna Boy
Mixed Fortunes for Tems
While she celebrated her Grammy win, Tems missed out on her other two nominations:
❌ Best R&B Song – Lost to SZA’s "Saturn"
❌ Best Global Music Album – Lost to Matt B & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s "Alkebulan II"
Fans React: "She’s the Moment!"
"Tems is officially the queen of African music! Y’all better put some respect on her name!"
"She beat Burna, Wiz, AND Davido? GOAT talk!"
"Women are running the game! Tyla last year, Tems this year… who’s next?"
With another Grammy to her name, Tems continues to prove why she’s one of the most important voices in modern Afrobeats.
