Lawyer Stan Alieke has issued a stern warning to Nigerians ahead of Valentine’s Day celebrations, cautioning against the creation and gifting of money cakes, money bouquets, or money flowers. According to Alieke, these seemingly creative and lavish gestures are considered criminal offenses under Nigerian law. Referencing Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act 2007, he emphasized that such acts are punishable by a minimum of six months in jail.
