The civil lawsuit accusing hip-hop moguls Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been voluntarily dismissed by the accuser. The case, filed in a Manhattan federal court, was dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning it cannot be refiled. The lawsuit, initially brought in December 2024, alleged that Jay-Z and Combs assaulted the accuser at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. However, the accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, declined to comment on the reasons behind the dismissal, and reports indicate that no settlement was reached between the parties.
Jay-Z welcomed the case’s dismissal, calling the allegations “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.” He expressed relief, stating, “Today is a victory. His legal team reiterated that he has “never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone” and expressed confidence that other pending cases would also be dismissed due to a lack of evidence.
