In a move that has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian music scene, Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has officially parted ways with YBNL Nation. The breakout star confirmed his departure by dropping his latest track, 'Why Love,' under his newly established label, Giran Republic.
Rumors had been swirling about a controversial exit from Olamide's YBNL, but Asake has put those to rest, not only with the launch of his own label but also by showing respect to his former boss, Olamide, in his earlier single this year, 'Military.' This gesture effectively quelled speculations of any bad blood between the two.
Asake joined the ranks of YBNL in February 2022, quickly becoming one of the label's shining stars. His journey with YBNL included a significant distribution deal with Empire in July 2022, which he continues to uphold even after his exit from the label.
The move to Giran Republic marks a new chapter for Asake, promising fans more of his unique sound and innovative approach to music without the YBNL banner, but with the same global reach through Empire.
