Sunday Ajayi, father of gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Nigerian government for mercy, eight days after his son's arrest for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu.
This is the first time the family has spoken out since the incident shocked the nation. Timileyin Ajayi, 32, was arrested in Agwan Sarki Orozo, Nasarawa State, while trying to dispose of Salome's severed head. The 24-year-old victim was a serving Youth Corps member in Abuja.
Sunday Ajayi's plea for mercy comes as the family grapples with the aftermath of the tragic event.
In an interview with Channels TV on Monday, Mr. Ajayi’s father pleaded, saying, "i want the government to assist me; let them resolve the matter I beg. Help me appeal to the people; let them forgive him.”
