Veteran Nigerian rapper Anthonia Yetunde Alabi, popularly known as Sasha P, has voiced her concerns about the growing obsession with wealth in Nigeria. The 41-year-old artist criticized the tendency to measure people’s worth solely by their financial status, lamenting how society idolizes the rich.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, Sasha P shared her thoughts on the misplaced priorities, emphasizing that money should not define character or excuse a lack of accountability.

“I think we lost the plot when people began to determine your value by how much money you have. People worship money in Nigeria, and any apparent show of wealth, you get treated like some deity when, in actual fact, you can have so much money and still be far from wisdom!” she wrote.

She went on to highlight that money serves as an amplifier of character rather than a determinant of it. According to her, wealth does not equate to emotional intelligence, wisdom, or even good company.

Sasha P also criticized the habit of responding to insults or challenges by questioning someone’s financial worth, describing it as "unbecoming" and a reflection of misplaced values.

Her comments have sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many Nigerians reflecting on the role of money in shaping societal interactions and perceptions.
