Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has spoken out against her former label boss, Ezekiel ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Concept, accusing him of attempting to sabotage her career.
In a statement shared via her lawyers on Instagram, Chinwo detailed her tumultuous journey with Eezee Concept, starting as a background singer before officially signing her first contract with the label in 2017—though she claims the dates were later altered to reflect 2019.
Chinwo revealed that Eezee Concept had proposed extending her initial five-year contract to 12 years, a proposal she declined due to her personal plans. She alleged that this decision marked the beginning of a toxic relationship, characterized by verbal and emotional abuse.
The Excess Love crooner claims Eezee Concept frequently used threats such as, “I will deal with you, I will mess you up, I made you who you are. I can shut you up, and nobody will hear you again, and I will destroy your career.”
She further alleged that Eezee Concept misled event organizers about her availability, impacting her career and public engagements.
Contrary to rumors, Chinwo clarified that she has not filed a lawsuit demanding her music catalogue. Instead, she is requesting the release of the original first three pages and execution page of her 2017 contract, which she claims was altered.
The ongoing feud has sparked significant discussions in the gospel music industry, with fans and fellow artists expressing their support for Chinwo as she fights for her rights and professional integrity.
