The Greater Lagos concert took a dramatic turn when Burna Boy abruptly left the stage after an unprovoked fan jumped on him during his performance.
The Grammy-winning artist, known for his fiery and assertive personality, was visibly upset by the incident. The fan attempted to hug Burna Boy but was met with a swift kick before security intervened and escorted the individual off the stage.
A short video capturing the moment shows the singer appearing to walk off stage, with an audible voice resembling Burna’s saying, “Everybody dey go your house.” However, conflicting reports suggest that he returned to complete his performance after the disruption.
Fans React: Where Was Security?
The incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many questioning the effectiveness of the event's security measures. Fans argued that such lapses could have led to a more serious situation.
Stage invasions are not uncommon in the Nigerian music scene. For instance, at Davido’s Timeless concert, a fan attempted to rush the stage but was quickly subdued by security. Unlike Burna Boy, Davido chose to stay on stage and continued performing after the incident. Wizkid recently had his own share of crowd invasion but he took it well without disrespecting the fans or get angry.
The debate now centers on how artists and organizers can better ensure safety without compromising the fan experience.
