Funke Akindele’s "Everybody Loves Jenifa" Shatters Records, Surpasses ₦1 Billion in 19 Days [Video]

Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has achieved another groundbreaking milestone as her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, grossed over ₦1 billion at the box office in just 19 days. 

This record-breaking feat makes it the fastest Nollywood movie to hit the billion-naira mark, solidifying Akindele's dominance in the Nigerian film industry.

Released in December, the movie has captured the hearts of audiences, selling over 202,000 tickets and contributing to 40% of the month’s total box office revenue. 

Its success extends beyond Nigeria, with an impressive ₦300 million earned in international markets, including the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.

Akindele, who stars in and directed the film, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to fans via social media. "Thank you for believing in our stories and supporting Nollywood. This achievement is ours to celebrate together," she wrote.

The success of Everybody Loves Jenifa builds on Akindele's impressive track record. Earlier this year, her film A Tribe Called Judah also made history as the first Nollywood film to cross the ₦1 billion mark in 21 days. With this latest accomplishment, Akindele now holds the record for the top four highest-grossing Nollywood films of all time.

Industry analysts have hailed the film’s performance as a testament to the growing appeal of Nigerian cinema and the global resonance of local stories. "Funke Akindele has once again raised the bar for Nollywood. Her storytelling and production quality are setting new standards," said film critic Tunde Onabanjo.

The extraordinary success of Everybody Loves Jenifa has further positioned Nollywood as a formidable player on the global entertainment stage, with Akindele leading the charge.
