Nigerian filmmaker and comedian, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has stirred conversations online with his candid remarks about the lack of support from fellow men in the entertainment industry.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the celebrated filmmaker expressed frustration over the apparent gender bias in the industry, claiming that men often prioritize supporting women over their male counterparts.
In his words: "One day, men go tell man ‘wetin man do man.’ We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we get breasts and yansh to have the support of our fellow men?"
AY further revealed that he feels like an outlier in the industry, saying, "I am still the only man left in the business of filmmaking who is yet to give it all up."
The post has since sparked a flurry of reactions, with fans and colleagues weighing in on the issue. While some sympathized with AY’s plight, others argued that success in the entertainment industry often transcends gender.
Is AY shedding light on a hidden truth, or is this a case of personal frustration? Let’s hear your thoughts!
