Social media influencer and activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has stirred controversy after his fiery response to the Nigerian Police’s recent warning about arresting citizens who insult government officials online.

The Police IGP had announced that Nigerians who criticize government officials on social media could face jail time, a statement that has ignited widespread outrage.

VDM’s Bold Reaction

In a viral X video, VDM minced no words, condemning the government and daring the police to arrest him.
"God will punish all the government officials who have ruined this country. Come and arrest me!" he declared.

The activist went on to criticize the police for allegedly ignoring pressing issues like kidnappers flaunting cash on TikTok, while focusing on silencing citizens.

"You leave kidnappers and criminals who show off wads of cash on TikTok without arresting them, yet you’re threatening innocent Nigerians for speaking out against bad governance," he said.

A Call to Action

VDM used the opportunity to urge Nigerian youths to stay vigilant and prepare for what he described as a worsening situation in the country:
"Nigerian youths, 2025 is coming. Open your eyes and see where this country is going. Things are getting worse."

Social Media Erupts

The video, captioned "Said what I said. Come and arr3st me," has gone viral, with many Nigerians rallying behind VDM. See the video below:

Malcolm Omirhobo also voiced his thoughts on the issue on X saying

"IGP stop threatening intimidating and subjugating Nigerians and advise the government and officials to leave the kitchen if they cannot stand the heat. You cannot jail Nigerians for criticizing the govt and officials for bad governance Nigeria is not N/ Korea.

The police’s announcement has sparked criticism, with many accusing the authorities of attempting to stifle free speech. Activists, influencers, and everyday Nigerians are demanding a focus on governance and security rather than punitive measures against critics.

VDM’s bold stance has further fueled the ongoing debate about free speech and accountability in Nigeria. Will the police respond to his challenge, or will this become another flashpoint in the fight for better governance?

Stay tuned as the drama unfolds! 💥📢
