The ongoing saga surrounding controversial rapper Speed Darlington has taken another dramatic turn as his lawyer, Stan Alieke, publicly vented his frustrations over the artist’s continued detention despite being granted bail by the Federal High Court.
Speed Darlington, who was arrested on November 27 over allegations of cyberstalking Burna Boy, remains in police custody nearly a month after his arrest. This comes despite a court ruling on December 23, 2024, granting him bail.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page, Alieke accused the police of deliberately ignoring the court order, hinting at potential foul play. The lawyer even alleged that Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning afrobeats star, might have bribed officers during Darlington’s initial arrest in October.
“We have done everything a lawyer should do to get his client out. I’ve even exhausted all my connections. The police have refused to obey the court order. There’s no justification for not obeying the court that granted Darlington bail,” Alieke lamented.
He recounted an incident during Darlington’s earlier arrest, saying: “The first time he was arrested in October, Burna came there with his team. After the meeting, I saw Burna sharing bundles of cash with the police while they asked for selfies. I told my staff, ‘If this guy makes a mistake again, these people will drill him.’”
As the case unfolds, Speed Darlington’s supporters have called for accountability and transparency, demanding the police comply with the court’s bail ruling.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s team has yet to respond to these serious allegations, leaving fans and critics alike eager for further updates.
