Speaking on the podcast Cocktails and Takeaways, Makinwa opened up about her youthful experiences and the lessons she’s drawn from them.
“I don’t think I liked my twenties. I don’t think I knew what I was doing because I was in love with one man in my 20s. I spent my entire 20s following one man,” she revealed, offering a glimpse into her younger years.
Now a successful entrepreneur and media mogul, Makinwa reflected on how those experiences shaped her journey:
“If I could turn back the hand of time, I’m grateful that I’m where I am today because my experience has shaped me.”
However, she had a word of caution for young people:
“You have no business getting married in your early or mid-twenties. Figure yourself out. Know yourself first.”
Makinwa’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many applauding her honesty and others debating her views on marriage and personal growth in one’s 20s.
Known for her resilience and outspoken personality, Toke Makinwa has consistently used her platform to share lessons from her personal life. Her advice serves as a reminder of the importance of self-discovery and independence before diving into serious commitments.
