In a stunning revelation, Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe 1st Runner-Up and reigning Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, has announced her decision to step away from pageantry entirely, citing personal and emotional struggles.
During an exclusive interview with Silverbird TV, Adetshina opened up about her challenging journey through the beauty world, which she described as a deeply traumatic experience.
"I’m Done with Pageantry"
The Nigerian-born beauty queen, who made history as one of Africa’s highest-placing contestants at Miss Universe, confessed:
“Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me. Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me.”
Adetshina also revealed the mental toll of competing at the global level:
“There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I want to focus on myself, establish who I am, and forward my education as well.”
A Journey Marked by Controversy
Chidimma’s pageant career has been anything but ordinary. She initially withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest after facing backlash over her Nigerian roots. Instead, she competed for her home country, eventually winning Miss Nigeria and earning a spot at Miss Universe, where she made Africa proud as 1st runner-up.
Despite the accolades, the intense scrutiny and public pressure left her disillusioned with the pageant world.
Relocating to Nigeria
The 1st runner-up confirmed she is relocating from South Africa to Nigeria to focus on personal growth and education. This move, she says, is a step toward building a new chapter in her life away from the spotlight.
Her decision has sparked widespread reactions.
What’s Next for Chidimma?
As she bids farewell to crowns and sashes, Chidimma Adetshina’s story of resilience and self-discovery promises to inspire many. Fans will undoubtedly be watching as she embarks on this next chapter of her life.
Goodbye to pageantry, but not to greatness! 🌟
