Nigerian singer Lekan Osifeso Junior, popularly known as Lojay, has shared a surprising take on wealth and success in the music industry. Contrary to the belief that affluent backgrounds open doors, Lojay argues that coming from a wealthy family can be a drawback, especially in Nigeria.
In a recent interview with City 105.1 FM, the Monalisa hitmaker said, “Nigerians like rich-shaming... rich kids don’t have an edge in the music industry.” According to Lojay, this bias exists because people believe affluent individuals don’t "deserve" support.

When asked if he faced this personally, Lojay confidently responded: “I’m undeniably talented. They can’t try that with me. Let them challenge me on the mic.” He added that his success isn’t due to family influence or payola: “If anything, being from a rich home is a disadvantage.”
Lojay’s insights have sparked conversation online, with fans debating whether wealth truly hinders or helps in Nigerian entertainment.
