Celebrated Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and his brother, actor Aremu Afolayan, have finally put an end to their long-standing feud. The emotional reconciliation took place during the wake-keep ceremony for their late mother in Oyo State on Friday, November 22, 2024.

The two sons of the legendary filmmaker and theatre icon Ade Love have been at odds for years, with their public fallout making headlines in 2018. At the time, Aremu criticized their late father’s financial struggles despite his fame, prompting Kunle to label his brother "stupid" in response.

Speaking at the event, Kunle shared a heartfelt reflection on their relationship, clarifying that he views himself not just as Aremu’s brother but as a paternal figure. “One thing I want to tell all Aremu’s friends is that I am not his brother but his father. I trained him, and I’m 10 years older than him, but you, his female friends, push him. But love conquers all,” Kunle said.

In a touching moment, Aremu also offered an apology to his older brother, admitting his faults and expressing gratitude for their late mother’s unwavering prayers.

“My greatest joy today is that my mother made us talk. She didn’t stop praying because I was the black sheep in the family,” Aremu confessed. “I’m sorry for putting brother Kunle through the Instagram backlash. It’s because I love you.”

The reconciliation marks a significant step forward for the Afolayan family, offering fans and well-wishers a reminder of the power of forgiveness and familial love.

As both brothers continue to excel in their careers, their renewed bond promises to strengthen their legacy as torchbearers of their father’s creative genius.
