Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has sparked fresh controversy by explaining why global fashion brand Puma chose fellow artist Davido over him for their latest endorsement deal.

The drama began when an X user, @NelsonEpega, accused Wizkid of being frustrated and jealous over Davido's recent deal with Puma. Reacting to the accusation, Wizkid took to X to clarify that the decision wasn't about jealousy, but rather a matter of financial negotiation.
In a viral post, Wizkid wrote, "U idiot! I turned down Puma because they could no longer afford to pay me because I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste you just mentioned! Not jealous! love them all. With ur dirty ass shirt! Idiot!"
Wizkid further explained that while Puma is a significant brand, the budget they allocated for Africa didn’t meet his expectations. "Puma is a Big brand! But the budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me! Was cool for your client tho!" he added, implying that the financial offer suited Davido but not him.
The statement has added fuel to the ongoing rivalry between the two Afrobeats giants, with fans of both artists taking sides in the debate. While some supported Wizkid’s decision, others viewed his comments as another jab in the ever-intensifying supremacy battle between the two Nigerian superstars.
