Popular social critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly apologized to the Nigeria Police Force following the backlash over his recent video in which he wore attire resembling a police uniform.

In the video, VeryDarkMan jokingly introduced himself as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the “Online Division,” a gesture that quickly drew criticism from the authorities.

After the Nigeria Police Force launched an investigation, Otse released a follow-up video on Thursday clarifying his intent and offering an apology. He explained, “I didn’t intend to impersonate the police in any way and I tender my unreserved apologies to the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police.”

VeryDarkMan used the opportunity to caution the public against unauthorized use of official uniforms, emphasizing the potential legal consequences. “Even if used for positive intentions, always seek proper authorization to avoid misunderstandings,” he advised.

His statement has stirred discussions online, with followers commending his humility while some continue to debate the broader implications of impersonating officials on social media.
