Popular Cuban reggaeton singer El Taiger, tragically passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, just a week after being shot in the head in Miami. The 37-year-old, born José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, was confirmed dead by his family in a heartbreaking statement posted to his Instagram stories.
The incident occurred on October 3, when officers responded to a call at NW 17th St. 10 Ave and found El Taiger in critical condition after being shot inside a black Mercedes SUV. He was immediately rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he underwent emergency surgery and was placed on life support. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the beloved reggaeton star succumbed to his injuries.
In the official statement, his family shared, “Sadly, this afternoon, El Taiger was pronounced dead and is now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven. While this is both shocking and heartbreaking, we urge his fans to honor his memory by celebrating the joy he brought to so many.”
Fans and fellow artists have since flooded social media with tributes, expressing shock and grief over the loss of one of reggaeton’s brightest stars. El Taiger, known for his unique sound and collaborations with top artists, leaves behind a powerful musical legacy. His death has sent waves of sadness through the Latin music community.
